How To Choose The Best Lightweight Stroller?

Filter by desired functionality & requirements, compare, and find the best match for you

A Lightweight Stroller means, surprise surprise, a stroller that is light on its weight - it doesn’t weigh much. Why should you care how much it weigh? Here are the 2 main reasons:
  • If you will need to lift the stroller often, its weight should be a major factor for you. Why would you need to lift the stroller? Well this mostly depends on your own personal lifestyle and circumstances, for example - If you need to climb stairs to reach your house, or if you think you’ll be traveling a lot by car and would like to take the stroller with you.
  • Even though on wheels, it is still easier to push something that weigh less… BUT you should also know that the force and strength required from you to push the stroller depends not just on its weight, but also on the stroller’s wheels size and type (and obviously the surface on which you are walking, I mean - it is obviously easier strolling in the mall’s floor than on the garden’s grass).
Generally speaking - a Lightweight Stroller is easier to handle and carry. So yes, weight is one of the more significant factors to consider when choosing a stroller, but as briefly explained above, that is definitely not the only criteria, so don’t be all like “Gotcha, I’m gonna buy the lightest stroller”.

We wrote a comprehensive guide to help you choose the best baby stroller for you and your child. The guide will help you to better understand the different consideration and get familiar with all the features of strollers, and provide day to day use cases and examples. It is Important to know that a Lightweight Stroller *usually* have some common drawbacks:
  • Suitable mostly for city use (i.e. on smooth straight surfaces) due to its wheels type and size
  • Feels less durable and might be more shaky
  • Not suitable for newborns since they usually don’t have compatible carrycot or carseat.
There are some exceptions here, such as the highly acclaimed BabyZen YoYo, or Maclaren’s strollers, that do provide support for newborns, are very durable, and still pretty lightweight.
